Preparing woodwork projects
Wood finishing is loads of fun, especially if you are carrying out a home DIY project such as building a new cabinet or finishing a piece of furniture. In order to give your woodworking project the perfect finishing, you need to choose and use the right sandpaper. It really does not matter whether you choose to use power sander or to sand by hand, the important thing is to pick the right grade and grit of sandpaper. In fact, sanding your project with the wrong type of sandpaper can potentially lead to an irreparable damage to your precious handiwork.
A bit of knowledge regarding sanding and preparing wood before you begin staining will help your next staining project go much faster and easier. Some types of sandpaper ideal for woodwork projects include adhesive-backed sandpapers, palm sander sandpaper sheets and ryobi sanding sheets.
One of the most efficient ways of sanding wood and removing unsightly milk marks on wood is to undertake sanding with a coarse grit of sandpaper which can easily cut through and remove the issue quickly. An adhesive-backed sandpaper or a palm sender sandpaper sheet will prove to be useful here. The next step is to wipe out the scratches on wood made by coarse-grit by sanding with finer and finer grits until you reach the smoothness you desire. While there are many different grits of sandpaper available in the market, the best ones for this particular job are in the range of #150, #180 or #220 grit.
